What Will We Be Learning This Quarter:
Phonics/Spelling- We will be working on closed syllables, short vowel sounds, and when to use c, k, or ck.
Reading- We will learn to identify and demonstrate understanding of key details of a text by asking and answering questions (who, what, where, when, why, and how). We will also use text features to locate key facts or information efficiently. Additionally, we will determine the meaning of words in a text relevant to grade 2 topic or subject area (vocabulary).
Writing- We will use all six traits of writing as we write an opinion piece and a narrative paper this quarter.
Math- We will be working on understanding numbers while learning how to add them with regrouping.
Science- We will understand the respiratory, digestive, and circulatory systems.
Social Studies- We will learn about the rights, responsibilities, and roles of citizenship in our classroom, school, and town communities.
